This week Gareth interviews Vegas Vipers QB Luis Perez in preparation for the upcoming season who is currently in training camp.

They discussed how training is going and how things are progressing, they also discussed the unusual position of having brand new rosters together and establishing the relationship with the WR core. Luis said,

I think that is the biggest thing right? Offensively you have to have 11 guys on the same page right? Offensive line wants to give great protection, WR wanting to make sure they are open and if the Quarterback doesn’t get them the ball. Well the play means nothing. So we need to make sure we are all on the same page. With my past experience, I have kind of found a way of making sure that I’ve done that efficiently. So that is what is going on right now.

They also discussed why he was excited to come on board with the XFL having previously played in New York for the Guardians in 2020 and the opportunity to play for coach Woodson, Talking about coach Woodson and the importance of learning from such an elite defensive player. He said,

It is super important. I go up to him all the time and ask him all kinds of questions about what kind of tendencies that quarterback would have or give away. What would he be looking for? We are just having good dialogue and chat to a hall of famer and pick his brain. We have over 270 years worth of coaching experience in Vegas and so anytime I get to learn off that. Im all ears.

He also discussed the other coaches who have inspired him and how important they have been in his development so far and how they motivate the team. They also discussed about the XFL being global on game 1 which is very rare for a new league and the importance of this fan base.

They also discussed the 4th and 15 rule which is in the XFL. Luis said,

It is huge. Right? As you are never out of the game. You can go possessions without giving the ball back if you convert the 4 and 15. From an offensive perspective you can never let your foot off the gas. As you never know when they will come back. As you may never get the ball back. So you need to keep maintaining the ball and scoring points and don’t play conservative.

They also discussed the placements of the teams and the advantage the Vegas and Orlando has due to the ease in which international fans can get to the city. Also they discussed how excited he was when he found out he was in Vegas.

Everyone at the Franchise tag was extremely grateful for Luis for his time and wish him every success this season.
