Top five landing spots for Jalen Ramsey

Jalen Ramsey looks to be on his way out of South Florida.

After two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, his time at the franchise appears to be over.

In April, ESPN reported that the Dolphins were looking to trade Ramsey after a news conference with general manager Chris Grier. He said: "Really after a couple weeks of discussions between ourselves internally and Jalen and his representation, we decided that it was probably in the best interest for all parties to move forward.

“I will say these decisions aren't done quickly and they're not taken lightly because we spent a lot of time this offseason working through this, talking through things. At the end of the day, Jalen did not ask for a trade.

"We went through the process, and I just felt that after numerous conversations and then talking last week with Jalen and his agent, that it was best to move forward, and it was best interest of the Miami Dolphins and for Jalen Ramsey."

This has led to speculation as to which team will sign the seven-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl LVI champion.

With 534 total tackles, 24 career interceptions, 108 passes defended and six forced fumbles, Ramsey has had a stellar career.

However, he is 30-years old and father time is fast approaching. Despite this, he still has something to offer. Here are the five best landing spots for Ramsey.

Carolina Panthers

Ramsey will most likely want to win, but he may be appealed by the prospect of playing for a rising team with a young quarterback and wide receiver duo.

Quarterback Bryce Young saw a major improvement down the stretch in 2024 and he will now be able to throw to rookie wideout Tetairoa McMillan.

In one of the weakest divisions in the league, Ramsey will have a good chance of improving a cornerback room that had a 57.1 PFF coverage in 2024.

Las Vegas Raiders

Whilst the Atlanta Falcons’ $5,021,925 in cap space means that acquiring Ramsey would be unrealistic, the Las Vegas Raiders certainly have enough in the war chest.

According to Overthecap, they have a cap space of $36,163,766. This is the fifth highest salary cap in the NFL. With the arrival of head coach Pete Carroll and the bright lights of Las Vegas, the prospect of joining the AFC West organisation would be an appealing one.

With the opportunity of playing Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert and Bo Nix, each twice a year, Ramsey will relish facing off against these three quarterbacks in divisional battles.

Against other quarterbacks such as CJ Stroud, Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott, these will also be opportunities to entice Ramsey, along with offensive weapons such as AJ Brown, CeeDee Lamb and Nico Collins.

In 2024, the Raiders 27th for total yards allowed per game and 29th in the league for total points allowed. Ramsey’s arrival would only improve their defense, who had the second worst cornerback PFF grade.

Los Angeles Rams

Ramsey will want to end his career on a high. Being reunited with Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams will offer him a great chance at winning one more Super Bowl.

As reported by Bleacher Report, McVay said the Rams “love” Ramsey. NBC Sports have referred to a lingering interest in him.

The cornerback room was arguably the Rams’ weak link in their run to the playoffs in the 2024 season. Adding back one of their greatest ever defensive backs will appeal to Ramsey.

With $19,442,127 in salary cap space, this is financially a deal that can be done by the Rams.

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings broke an unwanted record in 2024, becoming the first team to win 14 games and not win their division.

Their secondary ranked 28th against the pass. After the losses of Stephon Gilmore and Shaquill Griffin, Ramsey will be a welcome addition to a mediocre cornerback room featuring Isaiah Rodgers and Mekhi Blackmon.

With an exciting young quarterback in JJ McCarthy and the best wide receiver in the league, this team has the potential to once again be a dark horse. Weapons such as Aaron Jones and Jordan Addison will help their sophomore quarterback, who missed his entire rookie season through injury, the best platform to succeed and develop.

This will appeal to Ramsey, as will the prospect of playing under defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ blitz heavy unit.

Tennessee Titans

The final contender is the Tennessee Titans, which would offer Ramsey a chance to come home.

Ramsey was born in Smyrna, Tennessee. He would play high school football in Franklin, only a 33-minute drive from Nissan Stadium.

The Titans drafted quarterback Cameron Ward first overall, giving Ramsey the opportunity to play alongside one of the top college prospects. With $30,071,441 in cap space, the organisation would be able to afford Ramsey’s contract. He would be able to get one last pay day before setting off the sun and doing so for one of his two boyhood team.
